Privacy Policy

How PeakTock handles data in the Mac app and on this website.

Last updated 2 August 2026

Who is responsible

PeakTock is operated by Radicio Realis S.L., CIF B56886690, Calle el Sebo 1, 35650 Lajares, Canary Islands, Spain. For privacy questions, email [email protected].

The PeakTock Mac app

PeakTock observes typing activity through macOS Accessibility permission so it can identify recurring mistakes and create personalised practice. Your typing analysis is stored locally on your Mac in an encrypted database. PeakTock does not upload your typed words or a raw stream of your keystrokes to us.

The app may store local information such as:

  • word-level typing events and error patterns;
  • speed, accuracy, timing, key and letter-transition statistics;
  • practice sessions, goals, progress and reports;
  • the source application needed to group and explain your results; and
  • your settings and list of applications excluded from observation.

The app is designed to exclude secure text fields, such as password fields. You can also exclude applications from capture in PeakTock's settings.

Licence activation

When you activate PeakTock, the app sends your licence key and a machine identifier to our licensing service. This is necessary to verify the licence, enforce its one-Mac activation limit and help prevent misuse. The signed licence record is stored in your macOS Keychain so the app can verify it offline.

Our licensing service is hosted on Cloudflare and communicates with Creem, our Merchant of Record and licensing provider. Creem separately processes the order, payment, tax, receipt and licence-delivery information required for your purchase.

Software updates

PeakTock uses the Sparkle update framework. When the app checks for an update, it contacts peaktock.com to retrieve update information. Standard connection information, such as your IP address, may be processed by our hosting provider as part of that request.

This website

PeakTock can use PostHog for cookieless website analytics when an analytics project is configured. Analytics is currently disabled when no PostHog project key is present. If enabled, we collect limited events such as page views, button clicks, test duration, speed, accuracy and aggregate typing-diagnosis results. We do not send the passage you saw, the text you typed or directly identifying profile information through these events.

Analytics uses in-memory persistence rather than cookies or similar long-lived browser storage, so an anonymous visit is not linked across browser sessions.

Why we use data

  • to provide the Mac app, typing test and requested features;
  • to activate licences, deliver updates and provide support;
  • to process purchases and provide any legally required remedies;
  • to protect the service from fraud and abuse; and
  • to understand and improve the website when analytics is enabled.

Depending on the activity, our legal basis is performance of our contract, our legitimate interests in operating and improving PeakTock, compliance with legal obligations, or your consent where the law requires it.

Service providers and international processing

We use service providers only where needed to operate PeakTock, including Cloudflare for website and licensing infrastructure, Creem for checkout, payment, tax, receipts, licence fulfilment and any required payment remedies, and PostHog for optional website analytics. These providers may process data outside your country under their own safeguards and applicable data-protection terms.

Retention and your choices

Typing-analysis data remains on your Mac until you remove it through the app or delete the app's data. Licence and purchase records are kept for as long as needed to provide your licence, meet accounting and tax requirements, resolve disputes and prevent fraud. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, delete or restrict personal data we control, object to certain processing, or request a portable copy. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency or your local supervisory authority. Contact [email protected] to make a request.

Children and changes

PeakTock is not directed to children under 16. We may update this policy as the product or legal requirements change. The current version and its effective date will always be published on this page.
